What is Important
November 12, 2014
You work hard for your money and want to spend it on the things in life that are important to you. To make sure that you are saving and spending your money in the way that will make you happy is to spend and save in accordance with your values. If it is important to you to have a cup of coffee each day from the coffee shop, realize that there are other things you most likely will need to give up. If it is important for you to always have the newest car then realize there are other things in life you will need to give up. Look at where you spend your money every month and scrutinize your expenses. Look at the $500 a month car payment you have. Is it really that important to you? The important thing is to look at where your money is going and question yourself whether you are investing and spending your money in accordance with what you value and what is important to you.
I’m not giving you permission to not pay your bills, but to look at where you are spending money each month to make sure it makes sense with your financial dreams and your current financial situation. You want to first know what is important to you about your money. Then save, invest and spend on those things that you value and are important to you. Maybe that is your kid’s college education, your retirement or a new car. Each of us is different in what we value. Know what you value. Know what is important to you and put your money there.
